Ann Cleaves goes with the trend, by choice or by the editor's choice. I preferred the Vera and Shetland stories.
I like the setting though and w'd be pleased to read the next one.

I had read mixed reviews of this new series. I liked it : the not-so-self-confident inspector with a troubled past, the detailed descriptions , the twisted plot. Looking forward to reading more.
