Il est arrivé très vite ! Oh que oui, il va bien prolonger mes vacances en Australie. Surtout que j'ai ramené deux livres de là-bas, qui circulent déjà, eux aussi se passant en plein outback. Moi qui d'habitude lis très peu en anglais, j'explose mes records ! Merci pour le partage.

Un excellent thriller, qui m'a bien tenue en haleine. Les personnages sont bien construits, complexes, avec leur passé (inévitable, pour un cold case), leurs peurs, leurs émotions. Les distances sont bien australiennes, quand on n'hésite pas à faire trois heures de route pour aller boire une bière. Enfin, l'intrigue est solidement ficelée, et on partage les angoisses de l'enquêteur jusqu'au bout.
Merci de m'avoir fait découvrir Shelley Burr.

I had to delay starting this as I'd just finished another bookcrossing book set in Australia about a missing person (by Jane Harper) and needed to read something in a different genre in the meantime... but in the end this was very different. I just noticed that this was advertised as being "For fans of Jane Harper", so I guess the advertising was correct.
This was a new author for me and I again enjoyed being plunged into the very foreign to me wilds of Australia. The main character, with his many quirks and flaws, was original, and I appreciated discovering more about him little by little.
The ending was a bit surprising. I had the impression there was a sequel to this, and was very curious how that would sort itself out, but looking on fantasticfiction (a great site for sorting out the order of books in a series), this appears as a standalone. A shame, I was looking forward to reading more about Lane.
A good read - I'll look out for other books by this author.

This is not the Nannine of this crime story, but a ghost town. A former gold-mining town.

Excellent thriller. The plot is well thought out, the characters complex and the atmosphere perfectly captured. I have images of the Outback before my eyes and the accent still in my ears.

I was delighted to discover this author's first thriller.
