This is a very good little satire. It took a contentious issue in recent Australian history and turned it into a childrens story!

Brilliant! Make sure you read the sequel: "Little Johnny & the Naughty Disabled People who don't Work!"
Read at tonight's Meetup. As has been stated before, it's very difficult to read a book at Meetup, but read it I did. You probably don't realise that am actually a huge 'Little Johnny' supporter and was deeply offended by this trashy little book (yeah, right). I'm sure that most BookCrossers would agree with me. Christopher Milne should be put on a leaky boat and towed out to sea (or maybe just cut loose in an inner tube on the River Murray) where his children should be thrown overboard.

On Tuesday 10 May 2005, when I was at Poterhouse Irish Pub for the Sydney BookCrossing meeting I read this book. Little Johnny and the Naughty Boat People is a short story.

I did some research for you (bookfrog) to discover that the author is not related to A.A. Milne - in fact he's a Victorian - and he is pretty cute - check out his photo.He has written lots of Naughty Children books which you can find out about here.

Ooh, a book that bites. Very good.I wish I'd realised that "Naughty Stories for Good Boys and Girls" was at meetup last night, I would have grabbed it too.
I'll take this to the West Sydney meetup on 22/6/5, then back to fushmush in Brisbane to do the rounds there.
The Australians are claiming that this is a cheat book, but they obviously haven't got the hang of what a cheat book is, because they actually let you read it!A very cutting story.

Tonight freshly off the plane and train another book was thrust at me this time by the very lovely meganh. I promptly put this book into my pile which comprised several T shirts, two goody bags (one for mike), my carry on bag from the flight, a 3kg aussie post bag of books that I had posted to neesy, my "prize" from the lucky draw and several other books of the type that one picks up at bxing meetings.
And guess what? When meganh wanted the book back 10 minutes later (Indian giver) I couldn't find it. Just ask Mrs newk how long it takes me to lose things. Not very bloody long at all.
AND ***THEN*** I was told that it was an important book. Deja vu all over again.
To cut a long story short now that I have found the hotel and unpacked I have again located little john. reports will follow.
Megan it's a very nice hotel. No passion, no german speaking brazilians, no bed bugs, a tv...no afl tho..a bath. mmmmmmmmmm

An enlightening read. Ok, I admit, Tramgirl actually gave me the gist of it but I have some great pics of bookcrossers (Or BX'ers, as they are known in the 'hood'), reading this book at the Brisbane Convention. Will post them soon!

Not sure who pressed this into my hand, no wait I vaguely remember it sailing over from accross the room. As with meetup this little 5 minute book took me a little longer to read as so much more fun stuff was happening around me.
Phew, I am home, slightly rested. Hunted around for the right cables and now I can show this pic of toxic with Little John.
What an exciting book, this thrilled me and had me captivated for the entire 3 minutes it took to read it!

Read this at the ABC welcoming drinks on Friday night, quick little read that definitely makes you think about certain people! I have no idea who has it now, presumably its back in Meganh's safe hands.
Read this at the Palace Backpackers before heading off to the Registration reception at the Australian BookCrossing Convention.
This little book had a wonderful time at the convention and is now heading off on it's Australia Post bookray ($1 postage). Thanks newk for finding it again (and also for the poverty pack!). This legitimate cheat book (as opposed to the legitimacy of the Tampa solution) has already climbed to #23 in the most travelled books - thanks to all who read and journalled.

Read this smashing little book in about 7 minutes on the first night of the Convention. Enjoyed the satire and the chance to partake in a shameless attempt at achieving most journalled book!!!
Read this in the TV lounge on the fourth floor of "Passion Palace".Even a tiny little book like this is hard to concentrate on - when there are a half dozen fascinating bookcrossers talking around you.
I am a very slack Bookcrosser and only now getting around to journalling the catches I made at the ABC meeting last week. And this was definitely one of the highlights.
I read it in bewteen answering (?) questions at the Trivia night. (As I did not answer many questions, I had plenty of time. I am still smarting over being bested by the feathered fiend who was the only person who knew the name of Punch and Judy's dog. I mean, really. Who knows stuff like that? And more importantly, why?)
I laughed myself silly when I opened the mail today. A parcel actually arrived on Thursday with a stack of bills. I hate bills, so they and the parcel sat while I gathered enough patience to deal with them. And at the bottom of the pile was a book from whitequeen - The History of Punch and Judy! Now whitequeen has provided for my edification this useful and informative volume which I shall devour and commit to memory so such an outrage never happens again. I may also share it with our esteemed quizmaster, caldron, to ensure that in our next round he asks me some questions only I will know the answers to! Then I shall return it to whitequeen so she can hold it as independent arbiter when next there is a dispute about matters as important as those outlined herein.
Now back to Little Johnny, who is not one of my favourite people. In fact, in this house he is referred to as 'the lying rodent' usually accompanied by some less than ladylike epithets. The book, I am pleased to note, did not raise my blood pressure much - rather, it raised a few wry grins.

I'd never dreamed I would take part in Australian convention Cheatbook activities, but here I am. You never know what joining a bookring can lead to.
Good to see so many people seemingly enjoying it (and even little johnny supporters should appreciate this book and feel a bit of anger towards johnny for being so mean-spirited and for lying to them about what he knew to be otherwise).
Seeing that this book seems to be aimed at kids, I'll try it on my boys (Can't start too early with leftist indoctrination ;-)) before sending it on.

A nice little satire that could be read by all ages. Definitely a good read for younger people to give them an idea of how things happen in the world. A nice moral to it without being moralistic.
A great book for kids to become familiar with current affairs. Very good.

Just interrupting this book's journey with a journal from meganh's daughter. I read this book on my visit home from W.A.a few months ago.I enjoyed the satire, good reading for all.
This book is the very first that I've read all the way through before journalling that I've received it. Even better, my other half read it as well! I look forward to seeing it again at the Adelaide Convention next year! Will send on to the next participant next week.

This book thrust at me with instructions to read during brunch at the NZ Convention in Dunedin.
Enjoyed the convention more than the book but thought the message very well conveyed.
It is the old NIMBY syndrome at work with the addition of lies, lies and more lies really.
Each time I turned a page I expected to see the bit about what happened to those Tampa folk but that wasn't included. Didn't NZ come to the rescue for some of them?

Yep, I did my bit and pitched in too! I read this during the Melbourne meet-up @ Journal Cafe last night. A quick little read, although it was hard to concentrate with a buzz of activity around me. May this book keep on travelling and reach the top of the charts!

An on-the-spot read during meet-up today. I didn't have any trouble concentrating on reading AND participating in the assorted BC business and conversations happening around me - I am a woman after all and can do more than one thing at a time. I did, however, have some difficulty making sure that no caffe latte came out my nose as I snorted and occasionally guffawed with laughter.

MeganH suggested we read this during today's meetup - and after hearing the snorts of laughter coming from lmn60 next to me I was looking forward to it. An enjoyably dark moral tale.
It's also been educational reading the other journal entries with the report on the actual "children overboard" incident, which I didn't know anything about until today.

I am here to sadly inform you all that there are worse cheats out there than us and we have dropped to #7 on the most travelled list! In the last month, 2 books have climbed from nowhere to #2 and #3. All journals for both books were done within a few days of each other – it looks like a Californian school teacher is using this for class book reviews. I can’t imagine 130 people reading the one copy within a couple of days of each other so they must be using one BCID for numerous copies.
The first four books are all dodgy which puts Skyring’s Convention Journal (which although it is not a published book, at least people have read and journalled it over a period of time) at #1!
Angel Fire East is definitely dodgy as we all know those kiwis are circulating a piece of cardboard after losing their cheat book.
Little Johnnie is the next book on the list so we are unofficially at #2.
Of course, this decision has been decided by an independent arbiter and is final!

Cool little book!! Loved the metaphors. Good likeness of little Johnny. I think other kids should read this book, maybe they'll understand a bit better about the way we might look to other people. We must look greedy and lucky.

Mum read this book to me and my brother, We would like to go to school by boat like the kids in the book but Mum said it is easier to go on the bus since it is just up the road.

This was thrust into my hands with the instruction to read and pass along the table at our Gold Coast BC meet, so I had no idea what I was reading... hee,hee,hee, it was very clever, witty and a wonderful poke at our politicians.

Picked this book up from today's BookCrossing meet-up .. and I'm even going to get a chance to read it before I journal it!
if only this book could be given to the powers that be, maybe then they would realize how childish they really are. A good light, yet signifigant read.

Sorry! A late and out of order journal....what a well travelled book!..picked up at the brisbane meet and was returned to another bookcrosser. Didn't really like the main character, I sometimes found his egocentric ways a bit draining. It was a quick paced read and by the end I was cheering for the naughty little boat people :) Would suit children 6-13 years old. (he he!) Best wishes on your travels little book!

Apologies - after some prompting I realised that I had packaged the book on, but not sent it... It's on its way back to Meganh TODAY!
This little book arrived home in Victoria yesterday. After a short rest it shall be off to visit the next ABC in Melbourne October 5-7th.
I read this book last night at the Melbourne meetup, despite the destractions around me. Very clever! Thanks for sharing.

I have finally seen and read this little book, after hearing so much about it. Read it during the Melbourne Meet-Up (or whatever we call them now), on Tuesday night.
Very amusing little tale about a little issue that one a little man a big job.....I wonder what story can be weaved this time??!!

this book was spotted loitering at the recent Melbourne bookcrossing convention. It was looking to be picked up...for yet more journal entries.
