Inexplicably, I missed this one when it was published five years ago. The painterly motif sounds interesting, but the fact that it's an Updike novel means that I'd have have read it in any case.

Slogged through it at last...not in Updike's top ten, but still better than most painterly novels. (It's a keeper coz I cherish my top-thirty set!)
