TECH TEAM - site outages & slow speeds

Sorry for the outage earlier, we experienced almost an hour of the website being unusable.
WHAT CAUSES THIS?
We regularly experience 'Bot traffic' (aka search engine crawlers) which is a very normal thing on the internet, and they take up server bandwidth, making the front end of a website slow, or completely inaccessible.
THE GOOD NEWS
We've been working with our existing web hosting company for the past few weeks on how they can help us with this, as well as exploring additional technology that will offer us additional security and improved performance.
